This type of Kifwebe probably come from the eastern Songye territory between the Lomami and Lualaba rivers. Male Bifwebe masks are sometimes called Kilume (plur. Bilume). A similar mask is presented in "Beauty and the Beasts" written by Marc Leo Felix (ill. 22 page 40). This mask comes from a private collection and shows good signs of use.</span><br /><br />Ancien masque <span style="font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;">Kifwebe</span> masculin des <a href="http://www.uiowa.edu/%7Eafricart/toc/people/Songye.html"><span style="font-weight: bold;">Songye</span></a> (<a href="http://www.uiowa.edu/%7Eafricart/toc/countries/Congo_%28Zaire%29.html">Congo RDC</a>). Masque typique de l'ethnie : polychromie (noir, blanc et rouge), crête surdimensionnée suggérant une importante force magique et mystique. Ce type de masque Kifwebe proviendrait de l'est du territoire Songye, entre les fleuves Lomami et Lualaba. La coiffe est quasi complète et présente encore la "corne d'antilope" surmontée d'une touffe de plumes. Les masques Bifwebe masculins sont parfois appelés <span style="font-style: italic;">Kilume</span> (plur. <span style="font-style: italic;">Bilume</span>). Représentatif de l'art Chokwe ces sifflets, généralement portés autour du cou, étaient utilisés par les chasseurs. Selon Dominique Remondino, ils auraient aussi été utilisés lors des combats.<br />La majorité des sifflets récoltés à ce jour sont en bois. Le souvent cephalomorphes, certains sifflets représentent un masque et dans ce cas c'est le plus souvent le Cikhunza. Traditionnellement chokwe, les sifflets de chasse ont été produits par d'autres ethnies du Congo (Pende et Yaka notamment).<br /><br /><br />Bois léger. Les lames devaient être chauffées au fer rouge et martelées pendant près d'un mois pour obtenir les fins décors en relief qui les ornent. Ce martelage n'était pas uniquement effectué à des fins esthétiques. En effet, la technique d'élaboration du fer ne permettaient pas d'atteindre le point de fusion du métal. Ces deux villages de la région de Bloléquin se regardent en chien de faïence. Les derniers cités ont même subi la furia des autres qui ont mis leur village à sac. A l’origine, une loi traditionnelle bafouée.</em></strong></div><div><br /></div><div></div><div><br /></div><div align="justify">Rien ne va à Tinhou. Rien ne va entre Tinhou et Diboké, les deux plus importants villages du canton Bôo dans le département de Bloléquin. Tinhou a été incendié et pillé, il y a deux semaines, par des habitants de Diboké. Le feu couve toujours. Que s'est-il passé pour que ces deux villages deviennent subitement des ennemis mortels ?Dix jours après l'attaque en règle qu'il a subie de la part des populations de son voisin Diboké, le village de Tinhou panse toujours ses blessures et porte son deuil. Mais, hélas il n'est pas au bout de ses peines. Le vendredi 25 janvier dernier, aux environs de 17 heures, quand notre équipe de reportage arrivait dans le village de Tinhou (à quelque 10 km au sud de Bloléquin), elle a trouvé un village meurtri, couvert par la désolation. A peine notre véhicule atteint-il les premières cases que des femmes affolées, criaient des complaintes dans tous les sens. Leurs ennemis de fait de Diboké, nous ont-elles appris, venaient de mettre le feu à une plantation de cacao, dont le propriétaire, choqué, venait de perdre connaissance. "Après le village, ce sont les campements qu'ils ont pillés et brûlés. Maintenant, ce sont les plantations qu'ils incendient" s'indignent les femmes. Qu'est-ce qui a bien pu provoquer une telle colère de Diboké ? Voilà ce que nous ont raconté les témoins oculaires. Tant de Tinhou, de Diboké que des villages environnants. </div><div align="justify"> </div><div align="justify">Tout est parti le dimanche 13 janvier 2007 d'une altercation entre un masque venant de Diboké en partance pour Tuambly et un jeune de Tinhou. Le masque est un masque bagarreur. Chez les Guéré, il y a des masques de médiation, des masques chanteurs, des masques danseurs, des masques amuseurs et des masques…bagarreurs. Le masque bagarreur de Diboké en partance pour Tuambly arrive à Tinhou. Il attaque un premier groupe de jeunes qui prend la fuite. Il poursuit quelques-uns. Et comme la coutume l'exige, le chef de province le convainc avec une somme de 450f de poursuivre son chemin. Le masque arrive donc à un autre carrefour du village. Il s'en prend à un autre groupe de jeunes et rencontre plus loin l'un d'entre eux. Il est de la famille Ganhou. Et les masques ne doivent en aucun cas s'approcher des membres de cette famille (cela aussi relève de la coutume). Le jeune se présente donc. Mais le masque l'assomme avec son bâton. Le jeune, blessé à la tête, tombe et saigne abondamment. Le masque l'abandonne et s'en va. Les camarades du jeune le découvrent mal en point et le conduisent au dispensaire pour des soins. Mais ne s'arrêtent pas là. Ils poursuivent le masque et le rattrapent près de Tuambly. Là-bas, ils le frappent. S'en suit alors un affrontement entre les jeunes de Tinhou d'une part et les suiveurs du masque de Diboké et leurs hôtes de Tuambly d'autre part. C'est la débandade. Dans la mêlée, trois jeunes fuient en direction de Tinhou et Diboké et, épuisés en route, ils se couchent dans la broussaille. Un motocycliste qui passe par là, les prend pour morts et repand la nouvelle à Tinhou. Mais surtout à Diboké. A Diboké donc, on considère que non seulement, Tinhou a frappé leur masque mais a "tué" trois des leurs. Même si quelque deux heures après, la chefferie de Tinhou ayant revu les 3 jeunes déclarés morts rassure la chefferie de Diboké. La décision est prise à Diboké. Une expédition punitive à Tinhou. Ayant eu vent de ce que Diboké pourrait venir demander des comptes, la chefferie de Tinhou mandate quelques hommes dont les mères sont natives de Diboké. Avec le statut de neveux, ils ont pour mission d'aller devant les furieux avec un bélier aux cornes reliées par des rameaux de palme (ceci a valeur de drapeau blanc chez les Guéré) en vue de les calmer. Par ailleurs, croyant bien faire, Tinhou demande à tous ses jeunes, par qui tout est arrivé, de quitter le village. Mais rien n'y fit. Mieux, c'est une aubaine. Le lundi 14 janvier, au petit jour, Diboké, avec son chef, attaque. Ses hommes sont armés de machettes, de lances, de fusils de chasse, mais aussi de kalachnikov (selon des témoins, il y en aurait au moins une quinzaine). Ils cassent, pillent et incendient les habitations. Les populations de Tinhou fuient, abandonnant le village aux assaillants. Le bilan de l'agression est lourd : 24 habitations ont été saccagées puis incendiées, d'autres pillées dont celle de Badié Jean Camille, acheteur de produits et frère aîné du ministre Banzio, qui a perdu 10 millions de francs, 24 bœufs, 200 poulets, 200 cabris et moutons tués ou emportés, 9 blessées. Aux "soldats" de Diboké sont venus s'ajouter dans la journée du 14 janvier ceux des villages de Tuambly, de Médibly et de Séably. </div><div align="justify"> </div><div align="justify">Dix jours après cette agression, l'affaire est toujours aux mains de la gendarmerie de Bloléquin, sans autre suite. Tinhou vit dans la crainte d'autres attaques, puisque des actes, aux dires des populations, se poursuivent encore dans les campements et plantations.Toutefois, le 25, nous avons trouvé à Tinhou un huissier de justice venu faire le constat, pour le compte des cadres du village qui entendent porter plainte. En outre, l'ancienneté est fortement liée à la valeur d'un objet.<br />Si l'estimation est un critère relativement subjectif, il est existe une méthode fiable qui permet de dater l'ancienneté du bois.<br />Cette méthode, applicable à un grand nombre de bois repose sur la spectroscopie infrarouge.
